Default front arb captive nuts

i was taking off my front arb yesterday and 2 of the captive nuts inside the front legs started turning.im going to have to get in there with a hacksaw to get it off, question is how do i get in there to weld in 2 new nuts, there is a hole higher up i could maybe drop a nut in on a magnet and try and weld it from the outside.failing that im going to have to cut open the legs to get at the bits i need to fix,and i would rather not do that.cheers, lee

I assume you are reffering to the ones that sit inside th box setion, and hold the arb clamps.
This is VERY common, I just grind the head of the bolt away, then weld a thin bit of SS rod(3-4mm) to a nut and push through the hole that is higher up, always worked for me.
failing that you can cut the floor open inside the car to get at these two nuts, reweld on nuts, then weld back up, choice is yours.

If you lift your carpet etc in your foot well's then you'll see a section underneith the stuck down sound deadening that's like a grate. Remove some of the sound deadening then cut through this metal grate to gain access to your chassis box section. Once completed just stick a new panel of sound deadening matting down (heat it up in the oven first and then it sticks and moulds like shit to a blanket). You only need to remove a couple of these grate strips, so I never bothered welding any plate back in.

If little of that made sense then lift your carpet...you'll get me then

When the nut inside has snapped from spot welds I have drilled 2 or 3 holes from outside throught frame and welded nut back.
