Default Would it bother you?? UPDATE

I dropped my car off today at Honda to have the valve clearance checked. They need it over night to work on it cold in the morning. I parked it on the forcourt as told by the carpark attendant.

Went past tonight and it is still there, but kinda sitting on it's own virtually on the pavement. I know it is only a few feet away from dozens of new cars, and it is a busy road and I dare say camera'd up, but thought they would park customers cars inside or in a more secure compound rather than two foot away from the pavement where it could be subject to any abuse a passer by may feel like dishing out!!

am I just being fussy??

UPDATED:
Well, picked the car up, was fine, had a look round the place and to be honest the workshop looked tiny so not surprised they left it where it was. checked the work had been done which it had, and they had done a free inspection, which indicated to only a fault on the rear screen washer (which I knew about). Other than that it was given a clean bill of health so top stuff.

Wasn't cheap at £150. but it is a dealership so expect to get your panties dropped lol!!

Nah, I'd expect them to park it inside in preparation for working on it 'cold' tomorrow, not outside, almost on a pavement.

Cheers,

The chances are it'll be fine. Dealerships i used to work in all had a night watchman who took a walk round every now and then.

Also, if it does get damaged, it is the responsibility of the garage until you "sign for it" back.

I wouldnt worry too much, its normal practice, not every dealership has a massive workshop to lock away customers cars.

Unless they are setting the clearances on it outside tomorrow then they should of put it inside anyway....unless they are thinking of pushing it into the workshop to work on. Think I'd be giving them a ring and asking what the fook they are thinking!!

it's still parked like a blind man has done it, just how I left it lol!!

They are charging 150 notes!! should have got my mechanic to do it, but just couldn't be bothered with anything going wrong.

I will be asking why they left it outside and properly checking it over before I take it back. Sure it will be fine.

Should I go and take it back with the spare key lol!!

Yea, move it around the corner or a couple of streets away... that would be brilliant.

Is there any damage you want a free repair on? Run past and kick it.

When I was 18 I put a Civic into Hi-Q to get tracking done. Just stood and waited outside. Was pleased to see it being driven out the garage, so I walked towards it in the middle of the road and went up to the window thinking that was it done. The young guy - probs 17/18 himself - just put the window down and said "I'm just gonna go and check it". What, check the tracking? lol.

Anyway, I was a bit niave back then, so just watched it being driven away. Could hear still hear the Vtec about half a mile away. Cunt.

Had mates who have had a few experiances with test drives lol - one had a stereo fitted in his RST only to see it come screaming past him on a dual carriage way.

TBH, not fussed about that sort of stuff, it is a standard car so nothing they aint seen time and time again and built for the thrash anyhoo, was more miffed at it being left open to drunken passers by causing damage.

If it is practically on a pavement or public road then it probably isnt insured while it is in their care!

It would need to be on there property to be insured surely?

Personally i would go take a picture of it,and then speak to the service manager in the morning and say you are not happy at all, and you want the dealer principlescontact details as youll be placing a formal complaint... i can almost guarantee you he'll knock summat off your bill in the vain hope you dont make that complaint!

To be fair, like most dealerships, there car park go upto the pavement, and have metal poles or hooped bars so the car can't be taken off the forcourt (iirc) so it is on private land and infront of the dealership main doors.

When I parked it up it was in a line of cars, but must have been staff cars as they have all gone, so my car har about 2-3 spaces before the cars start the one side and none on the rest of the car park on the other so do stick out about rather than just being part of a line up.

As I say, will most likely be fine, but just thought customers cars would be moved round the back out of harms way.

Will just check it properly before I accept it back tomorrow.

I'd see it as a bonus. As Maria said take a photo of it parked outside, not too close mind and any scrapes, bumps, etc I'd claim were made whilst in their care

Dont mention it at all, and when you go in to collect it, first thing you should say is "was the car heavy when you pushed it"
