Aaron, In Australia you could buy 2.0l flat front cars... These cars had the same specs as the RS we knew here
Just wondering! is there a difference between the Escort mk2 RS2000 flat front and the mexico? i dont know much about either
cheers!
The RS2000 flat front was sold and produced as a homologation to the droop snoot because the flat front was lighter and hence better for motorsport. The Mexico was produced between 1976 and 1978 and was something of a mix of Ford's "RS" cars. The MK II Mexico trim, front and rear suspension and brakes were the same as (Ford's greatest car) the RS1800. The gearbox came from the RS2000. The Mexico engine was a "baby" Pinto with 1593 cc.
So to answer your question, there was really not that much difference between a flat front MK II RS 2000 and MK II Mexico other than engine cc.
