6 months ago i purchased another series 2 rs escort. its got a brand new gearbox on it, standard wheels and tires,but my misses was at the side of me in her focus and my speedo was reading 70 but hers was reading 60. just wondering if any 1 knows why?

Speedos are never spot on mate.Has the gearbox been rebuilt.A mate of mine has a S1 and he had his gearbox rebuilt and his speedo is a mile out.He can be doing 90 and the speedo reads about 30 lol.

 

The Focus speedo is normally 3mph out. The Escort on is normally 10%. When you read 70, you are normally doing 66mph. Are you using 15" wheels? If not, then that will make a difference as well.

Someone I know has 17" wheels with 45 profile tyres on his Saff. His speedo is dead accurate, but with 15" wheels, he over-reads by 10%.
