ive opened my tank up today to find that ive got a 044 pump fitted with the fuel feed pipe grinded off it has anyone else done this? its an external pump its been working fine just bloody noisy..

Some people fit 044 in the tank like yours, not ideal but they do work.

They are also a noisy pump (which is good as you know its working )

 

i'm wondering isnt a 044 a gravity pump? and a 023 a lift pump? who runs on like this?

Ive used a 003 running stage 3 around 330, In Tank and less noisy than the standard pump and good for upto 400 ive been told, so depends what power your after or running.

 

Always rumours around, but why does everyone fit the 023, 003 or Walbro pump then? Maybe there is a bigger pump available, but remember that the size of the hole in the tank limits the physical size of the pump too, the 023 is pretty tight.

I think Aeromotive has got a very powerful in tank pump. I know that the Walbros or the 023 they should deliver about 255lph but if you're not satisfied with that delivery then you can fit 2 Walbros or similar in tank pumps, if you dont want to modify the tank. I fitted my self 2 in tank fuel pumps in parallel to each other and they are working fine. Skylines they use this type of conversion, at lease if you have a fuel pump failling you'll have a good amount of fuel delivery to system.
