Default 4 pot cossie brakes

Okay guys so how do i go about making 2wd cossie brakes fit my S2??

I have the following parts from the 2wd cossie, 4 pot callipers, pads, disks, and braided lines.

I read a previous post stating that you have to machine 4mm off the mating face of the calliper to get them to fit, can anyone confirm this and also i have attached the link to a picture of the callipers, can someone let me know if the arrows i put it are where the 4mm needs to come off from and if its defo 4 mm.

Is there anything else i need or any other advice that would be appreciated too.

Cheers

Neil

Thanks Antony, iver read it and its shed some more light on it, but im still not 100% sure as to where the machining needs to take place, reading the rs bible info i think im right enough in where i put the arrows to but can anyone confirm this??

Also it doesnt say in the guide if the disks are 2 wd or 4x4 ones, does asnyone know this either??

Cheers

Neil

the pics in that thread/guide are for converting to 4wd cossie calipers, not 2wd 4 pots

and then the rest of the thread is so confusing, the dude has no chance of finding useful info in there, needle in a haystack job lol

the 4mm needs to machined off the inside of the mounting lug and you will also need flexies with a banjo fitting on the end and not the direct screw in type!!
you need to use 2wd discs!

Done this on my series 2, marked up the callipers and got them machined, drilled out the hub and bolted the calliper with a nyloc nut and bolt, and bought some braided lines from here look in the brake section, 2wd disks aswell

You would be better off using the 4x4 ones with 2wd discs, i had the 4-pots on mine and took them off because they were shite.

Well i used them with 300mm discs and made my own brackets which took forever. Gone down the 4x4 route and they are far better, i know quite a few have got the same with some great results. I still have them with the braided lines if you need some.

The calipers themselves are far superior to 4wd calipers, but th braking system on a Mk3/4 isn't really the best for use with them. I fitted mine 3/4 years ago and have only really used the car a few times recently to actually see what they are like, they are alright but then that said the car has been sat dormant all the time inbetween and one of them had stuck on, im waiting for the weather to warm up to strip them all down and rebleed them etc.

As for fitting, all you need to do is tap the hub to M12, the holes are out a tiny tiny amount but if you start both bolts off before you wind them in all the way you will have no issues.

The pipe connections are a bit of a nightmare though. Obviously on a 2wd theres no driveshafts up the front, but your escort has, and the connections point straight out at the CV joints. You will need 90 degree adaptors to make the pipes clear.

Also wont fit behind standard rims.
