actuator rattle

Default actuator rattle

can anyone help, ive fitted a -31 actuator and its got an anoying rattle, its driving me insane.

sounds like proper wastegate chatter...

when you dont have enough preload on the arm the gate can chatter against its seat.



how much preload did you put on it?

how much preload did you put on it?

just fitted it mate, whats preload?
i adjusted the rod length to run 12psi

if the rod isnt tight enough(preload) it will rattle,


tbh at 12psi you dont want a -31, as you cant run any preload or it will make to much boost.


normally, we aim to run half a hole of preload...ie you need to PULL the actuator rod half the hole to get it to slip over the wastegate arm.

are the 2 bolts tight were the actuator bolts on to the plate? an is the actual plate on tight tht bolts to the turbo housing?

at half a hole preload how much boost will it make?
