Default Escossie koni problem

hi guys, i've just replaced my standard suspension for koni adustable suspension with ahmed bayoo springs and have hit a problem. The spring cups on the front shocks are rubbing on the tyres both sides. The cars is running 18 OZ Super turismo with 225/40 R18 tyres.

Any idea what could be the problem please ?

Yes - 18's are too big for the Konis.

I had Koni's on mine, where on the car when I bought them, the previous owner had cut the spring cup so the tyre didn't foul the tyre anymore

Brutal, slightly unsafe, but did the Job

You have to slightly reshape the spring cup with a hammer

as said the spring cup is lower on koni's the best way is to take the strut off then cut a piece out then weld some straight metal in, repaint and refit.
the other way is as said use a big hammer!

What offset are your wheels ? If you have ET25 which is the standard wheel offset you'll need spacers to bring the wheel further out. If you have ET18 you can get away with the hammer approach.

I've got one set of 18"'s that are ET18 they fit after reshaping the spring cup & the others are ET25 & I've got to fit some Eibach spacers to get them to fit.

My 18" Super T's were ET18 and a previous owner had just hammered the cup a bit which cleared it fine.
