Default Focus Gear Linkage/Lever Spring?

Hi All,

51 Plate Mk1 Ford Focus 'Silver' with the 1.6 Zetec engine.

Selecting third is very strange, the lever doesn't 'pull' across the gate into the middle like all the other fords i've driven, is this normal or is there a spring on the linkage which has probably snapped?

Anyone got any pictures? M/cat or similar?

Thanks

Matt

Thats good to know, don't suppose you have any more details of them, part number etc or can you describe where its supposed to go? As i haven't got the old one fitted i think i have no idea where to start looking for the mountings.

Thanks

had the same go on my 01 focus, the return spring is a common fault & your parts man should know the part well. easy fitted by removing 3 star head screws on top of the linkage & replace the spring. its a 5 min job

Ah, so its and in'car thing, not underneath by the gearbox, that makes like easier.

Cheers, I'll give Ford a call in the morning.

You'll probably go to all that effort to get one out of a scrappy car and they'll charge you a fiver Unless you're a 5-finger discounter of course.

Common problem, piece of piss to fix. Just don't take the car to Ford to have it fixed as it's a brilliant excuse for them to charge you a fortune!!!
