Smile BT And LT Escos Differences

Hi Peeps

Sorry for my lack of knowledge here but I just need a bit of info on the differences between the Big Turbo and small turbo escorts. Mainly the engine internals...

Are they the same apart from the turbo? what else is different in general.

I only ask because its highly possible that i will be back into cosworth owning territory very soon and could quite possibly be a small turbo escort that is for sale on this very site.

It was the geat Mr Hadland that managed to talk me into getting rid of the saff and all the problems that came with it, recouping some money and starting the qhole process on an escos.

So here we are.

Just want to get a picture of what can be done on standard small turbo interals.

Thanks Guys

Excellent... So would be worth going with for good power then? What about pistons are they the same?

Is the intercooler a much bigger one. like 500 style sort of thing. Sorry about my stupidity i just know nothing about the small turbo escorts.

the i/c is the same size iirc, nothing bigger about it as the later cars may have air con and that will need removing or i think you can get a certain i/c so that the a/c can remain in.

the colours are better too on the st cars too.

small turbo had a normal intercooler, big turbo had a combined inter & charge cooler. aircon was an option, as was leather, twin airbags, cd player etc....
to go for big power you will need to change the managment or speak to Stu real nice

Well Ideally martin will be doing any work on it that i require but i heard that he does not do the mapping so i would imagine Stu would be the best bet.

Lambchop.... Sorry about that mate my mistake.

Is it generally known that the small turbo is ok to start with or would it be better to get a big turbo model?

As long as a small tirbo is ok then it looks like i will be off to scotland next week...
