Default Insurance has dropped

I've just renewed my insurance for my Escort, when it expired in July, I was lucky to get a quote of £700. I've just had a quote and accepted for £545 inc agreed value, legal cover and all mods etc. This is with Adrain flux, the closest quote was greenlight with £685. It's just what is needed so close to xmas. A good start to the week.

What mods have you got, and is that on a limited mileage?

I'm with them, and pay £1100, I'm 43, LHD, got 330bhp, business use, and unlimited mileage.

Mines deffo dropped.

Just got it on Classic insurance with Classic & Collectable Club Insurance Ltd (Established by James Campbell & Son)

Fully Comp, All mods, legal cover etc on 5000 miles per year.

Paying only £325 a year now, but you have to be a member of a Ford Club, So the RSOC is good enough

Thats with 6 years NCB and i'm only 26!!

5000 miles a year, what do you just polish it all the time It's a car, you should drive it.

I do drive it - alot (when its not broke etc), its surprising how far you get on 5000 miles a year.

Its my second car you see, and 5000 miles was the maximum I could get on that policy

I really can't understand this. It must be the business use and unlimited mileage that makes mine so high. I do approximately 20,000 miles a year.

it will be the business milage as by definition you 'COULD' be driving the car ALL day which of course you are on the road longer statistically are a greater risk. tbh, 1100 isnt bad for that milage, i was paying that for a 5K limited mikage policy about 4 years back aged 26 with full NCD.

you sure on that - not a typo - as my 30 year old wife on a 1.1 106 with 10 years NCD with a clean licence is paying nearly that on a car worth 1K!

is the policy in your name? which company cos that is impressive if its not a typo

I'm 31, 7yrs NCB with agreed val, all mods and extras dec over 400bhp, limited to 5k miles (used when running, not to work). It brought it down because I've owned the car 6 1/2 yrs and been that level of mods for about 3 yrs so have experience driving it.

what!!!! my new quote has just come through, £30 more than last year which was £650. the car is garaged, alarmed, 3k millage limit with 6 year ncd and 26 years old. with HIC.
I have asked whether they can do a better price and told them i will not be renewing with them but still wont budge on price. where is the logic in that....?

Nick when you get one phone around a couple of companies first then speak to Paul Bostrom at Need2Insure, he's an RSOC member and smashed my premium in half this year, if you want his number give me a shout

hi ben, boncaster have always been best with me,last time flux just beat them but boncaster matched it so stayed with them,i tried need2insure when i had the focus but they couldnt quite match boncaster again, if you have a standard car then your ok, but as soon as you start tellin them about all the mods???
