I think Jasonp does all bespoke carpentry. Last non standard one we got was 280 quid inc vat through howarth timber, as said howdens do set measures for 90 quid!

I do metal stairs. i.e. Steel, stainless, with glass balustrading etc. Depends what you want really, but cost compared to a wooden stair is ridiculous.

cheers for the replies.

Think i'll check out Howdens although i dont have an account with them. I'm assuming the treads on them are MDF? Is it worth paying a bit more and getting pine treads or is MDF ok? Just that stuff seems a bit cardboardy really...

Mdf is fine for treads just make sure its 18mm they use, normally use ply for the risers. Only normally use pine for treads if there not being carpeted. The strings should be pine tho, normally piranna pine as has long straight grain.

i know mikes mate up the road from his unit, and i think he does things like one off big oak staircases ect so might not be the cheapest option like a ready cut pack!
suppose its worth a phone call tho!
