Default even had a prev write off damaged, ie insurance payout

im in the trade i do repair salvage etc, but ive decided to buy a 51 plate golf gti turbo from a mate for the wife as shes got a newish laguna diesel and she wants somin sporty, so thought fook it ill buy her thats its 2k so not massive money but it is a v clean car

it was a cat c year or so back vic inspected on logbook

question is say if it gets nicked wrote off what they like on payouts? really try it on reducing the amount or if you argue the toss saying didnt have a clue owned it in good faith etc they payout book price ok?

Harsh if you only get 40% of the bottom book, because realistically there only 25% cheaper most of the time to buy, is it myth that insuring a cat c/d is cheaper?
