my mate has an s2 with a collins chip, appariently they are suposed to run 15psi so is. when it comes on to boost it missfires & sound lyk its running on 3, its had new plugs/ leads/ dizzy cap & rotor arm, any ideas? origionaly thought it was fuel but am not to sure now.

any more ideas? could it be the dizzy not advancing or retarding when on boost?

yeh i would check fuel mixture. play about with it when engine warm. u can use a screw driver.

maybe timing?

i would defo recomend it goes on the rollers and let the experts tune it for you

 

hi everyone its my car, ive just bought it with this fault gets to about 2000rpm and misfires(feels like the spark is blown owt), ive got new ford plugs leads dizzy and rotor, ive put a set of lifters and valve stem oil seals in and an oil and filter change, gapped the plugs 0.8mm. i took it to a small garage that could set the fuelling and ignition on it he got the ignition spot but when it came to fuelling the mixture screw would not adjust (threads stripped) but the co was 1.5% which he said would be okay just a tad ritch.
the second fault is their is a wire bridging the were the fuel pump relay goes bought a relay but it dont work there is no switched live so i was wondering were this live actually comes from is it the metering head or some pessure valve ?

 

same happened to mine,turned out 2 be the ecu,u would put ur foot down and as soon as it hits boost it would start coughing and spluttering,think u might be needing another ecu mate hope this helps

haha, tried the ecu still no luck, but i have found a pipe were a vacum hose connects to on the pressure regulator but the vacum pipe is no were to be found and ideas anyone, or does anyone fancy sticking their heads under the bonnet for me its fastened to the metering unit on the left

 

or and nw its running a standard ecu and the boost down to 6psi and cheers little bram

certainly havent big Ram ? lol, but my car wouldnt start today and i couldnt hear the fuel pump running so got underneath gave it a tap and away it went, so im goin to try a new fuel pump tomorrow.
nick, that pipe, i disconnected my boost gauge and stuck the vacum pipe on the regulator and it run lyk a ryt c**t so it either isnt supposed to be connected or it connects to something else ? sum one told me it goes to the actuator but it would have the same effect anyway :s

(nick) the ecu's water temperature sensor was'nt working, me and stev's taking the engine back to bits. getin some new stuf now my cossies gone. was ok tho beat a subaru

dan. so has your actuator got a pipe on? is that not the pipe thats suposed to be used for the fuel comp if there fitted?

get a new pump it wouldnt suprise me if thats what its been.

 

no wasnt insurance m8 had it off the road, just put that t38 on and spend 800 on the head when the belt snaped dont no if i wud hav anyway and you no i never tell any1 what am doing. not be long nick and me and stev will buy it for cheap, telt him il giv him 500 for it lol

yes & no mate. i realy want 1. but i fancy a focus rs, ill be looking after christmas for 1 realy only wana payt 8500 for 1 though, there going for 9 now. that or a s1.

 

do you still have standard boost pipes? because i had the same problem on my 16i turbo and it was the bottom boost hose (metering head to turbo) would collapse.
put a samco pipe on which was alot harder compared to the old soft ford pipe and it cured the problem.
