I was looking at these, but I can only find them in KPH and not MPH? Do you know of any in MPH? If I put only KPH in my car for the UK, is it not an MOT failure?

Cheers

Hmm - they don't anything like the original ones IMHO, - those pictures remind me of the stick on ones you get. It would be better if they also did a proper replica set for those with concourse cars

the original ones cant be cleaned as its the photoluminesance thats absorbed moisture over time - they may look ok then in the day, but when illuminated look horrible - i fitted a birba MPH set with 2 bar boost to mine a few years back...

They really don't look that great to me. They haven't even got the smaller KPH numbers on so Ł200 seems quite expensive. Can't fathom why they didn't make them look more like the originals.

but what do you do - there are no NEW ford ones about - at best they are 10+ years old and will be showing signs of age - a mint s/h clock set is like hens teeth - but then your milage is up the pole

they do look better when in the car than the close up pics above and 100% better than teh blotchy originals

Dave I agree. How accurate are they? My original clocks are in KPH, being an import from Germany, so if I put MPH dials on would they be accurate? The only problem then is that the odometer is still in kilometres. Or should I just stick to KPH dials? Thanks John

i'd rather have these so long as they fit correctly than them others, i still reckon a original set thats blotchy are better or are they fixable ???

the boost gauge is surprisingly accurate - as you move the zero down so that is can read up to 2 bar, and mine when it was set up at msd was reading exactly 1.9 bar peak the same as stu's calibrated gauge.

the revs is easy enough , just place that back on at the same spped at idle as your car idled beforeyou took them off, and there is instructions in the pack to set the correct pre load on the speedo needle so that its accurate - again checked mine against my sat nav at the time and it actaully made it more accurate ( ie removed the 10% tollerance thats inherenet in most factory speedos) so if it said 50 mph, you were doing 50 mph - and allowed the needle to go up to 180 mph.

if yours is a kph, you will need to keep to kph to keep the odometer true, vut just for a speed indication you ould fit a mph set as the range is the same so will read just fine.

Thats it in a nutshell. Mine aren't that bad tbh, and I have got a spare set. Even if they were awful I wouldn't buy these for one simple reason - blotchy originals look fine during the day, and shit at night. If I were to fit a set of those chavvy reproduction ones it would look shite during the day and night. Can't see that as an improvement.

Interestingly - a brand new set of full Ford dials sold on Ebay for about Ł120 a few months ago.

Another point if you decide to fit a set of these - can you stick them on a normal set of Escort dials and keep your cossy originals? You would need to transfer the mechanism off the back of the speedo onto the normal Escort front to get the mileage reading and 170MPH calibration - but this can be done. The only thing I am unsure about is if the shape of the face is different where the connectors slide on.

you cant stick them on a set of noraml escort dials for the simple reason the range of the speedo is not the same - so you be sticking a 0-180 mph raeding over a gauge that can only read 0-140 - so in effect would under read by 30%

Yes you can - if you read my original post you will see that I said you need to transfer the 170MPH calibrated mechanism onto the back. This is quite straighytforward and would also allow you to carry your original mileage, and black on white odometer across.

But would the new dials like Birba ones be luminous?? like the original ones, as i think if they wouldnt you have to convert the cluster lightning system
