Thanks.

Doubt it Dave - most places requiore the policy holder to be over 23 with named drivers over 21, and then have massive excesses and big restrictions

I was on our Axa traders policy at the age of 18 with only limitation to a 1.6 for social domestic and pleasure, any engine size for business.

Is commercial insurance different to trade insurance?

Hi Shorty,

A couple of Road risk Trade policy providers are as follows:

www.tradewiseinsurance.com
www.tradexinsurance.co.uk

Hopefully these guys can help, but if you're still stuck after this - pm me and i'll check within our industry for further providers.

Kind regards

Tony

You can get one i got quoted £940 with my van and S2 although they said they would cover no mods so only pay me for the car if it got robbed.

Yes but 3rd maybe ok on a rs turbo or a saphh were it would be cheap to get the car fixed but it is not worth doing this on a a 10k car etc

Hi all,

I'm glad this thread was started really helpful!

But I'm 20 ... & a half and I'm having an nightmare trying to get any sort of trade insurance, perhaps things have changed since this thread was started? I've tried nearly all the above and I get the same flat unhelpful NO.

It's getting to the stage where I'm weighing up how much it would be, buying a 4X4 and a trailer and towing cars from A to B (which in my opinion is ridiculous).

So if there is anyone out there who has recently managed to attain trade insurance for a 20 year old please tell me how!

Thanks in advance,
Cal

just read the small print as most policys will require to PROVE your a trader if you have to claim this is to stop people just getting one to insure mutiple cars for personal use so be carefull!
