Its big brother Abu Dhabi has had to pay its debts for the last three months, rents and house prices are down 40% the last quarter, expats are leaving in droves, the government finally realised that giving all the freebies to the locals does actually cost money. Its not the place it was 10 years ago, and I wouldn't give it a second glance now. Not somewhere to go to make money. Even the launch of the new Atlantis hotel they said would be the last big extravaganza as it costs too much.

You want money, go to the real shit hole places that have discovered they have something the world wants or needs like Qatar (Gas), Sierra Leone (Minerals), DR Congo (Minerals). Thats where you make money. Even Iraq to rebuild the infrastructure, money they pay is nuts.

only place i'd go is north america. Yeh its a pipe dream but san fran, new york, miami, la etc

 

Canada or the US for me, would prob carry on fixing commercial vehicles too, import a ESCOS for a toy and play with other V8 stuff as my other toy !!

 

but i think getting into canada is hard at the min? its supposed to be great place to live al the same... so many places but i would be going where there is good money...

 

my dream is to move to Oz. Maybe in a few years when the wife is a qualified nurse and I have qualified as a commissioning engineer I may make it there

 

26 years in Dubai since I was 4 and now in Qatar working and its a piece of piss. Find a global company who have contracts in these places and apply. It really is piss easy to find a job here, they need people who are willing to actually put some effort in.

I will say aswell, its who you know out here that will stand you in good stead. Try and find someone who knows someone out here or works out here and approach them.
