Default Number plate help

Just wondering if a car that has say A346 RTU and another car has A357 RTU if they would have come from the same place.....even though lets say one is a Ford and the other is a Vauxhall?

Dealers used to buy runs of plates, 10 years ago when we used to do a lot of work with BMW they had a run of S*** EAR plates.

Not sure how it works now though.

Interesting. I used to have a Pug 205 GTI 1.9 back in 1996 with the number plate G940 RTU.......bought a Celica for a bit of fun and its only a few digits out from my old 205! Im wondering if they have maybe come from the same place/dealer or something?

As said dealers buy these in batches, so in numerical order.
