just time the cams and then refit the peg in the hole that lines up,peg is then held in by the cam bolt washer.

yeah as said, dial your cams in, then align the two marks and slide the peg into the slot that lines up. job done

You need a degree disc to mark exact tdc, and a dial gauge to determine full lift.
With yours it may well necessistate spinning the pulleys around as they are offset to get exact.
When do you want me to come and do it ?

you dont need to spin the pulleys at all

and i fail to see how a timing disc will show you tdc? it should tell you where full lift should be.

just line the timing dots up as usual, and put the peg in the hole that lines up there is always one that lines up.as thats the whole idea

The reason I use a degree disc on crank ALWAYS is to eliminate an erronous marks of tdc done by ford, it's utter studpidity to not establish with a dial gauge the EXACT TDC, it may or may not be as marked, but a disc with a improvised pointer is a hell of a lot more accurate than a pulley marking that may not be accurate anyway.
I have never used this design of adjustable pulleys, personally I think they're shit, and prefer the allen key type, that's the way I do it, oh and with two leather pieces as well.

you always need a degree disc on the crank to dial cams in...i fail to see how you can measure where full lift should be without?

peg style pulleys are 10 times stronger than bolt ups. and they cant be fucked up, under/over tightened by numpties either, ive seen loads rounded off, and bolt ups look ghey
