The reason I use a degree disc on crank ALWAYS is to eliminate an erronous marks of tdc done by ford, it's utter studpidity to not establish with a dial gauge the EXACT TDC, it may or may not be as marked, but a disc with a improvised pointer is a hell of a lot more accurate than a pulley marking that may not be accurate anyway.
I have never used this design of adjustable pulleys, personally I think they're shit, and prefer the allen key type, that's the way I do it, oh and with two leather pieces as well.
