Me and my mates are thinking about a road trip next year to one of the gatebil events and wondering if its as good as it looks on the dvd's. How long does it take to drive? Which one is the best to go to? Is it best to get there on friday nite? I know its a long way off but were going to plan our holidays around it so just getting some ideas. thanks.

 

depens on where you are in the UK

ferry's go from harwich to Denmark if your in the south; or newcastle if your in the north

its a long drive! - havent done it personally; but 2 people i know are norweigian who have done the trip many times

there are a few options which ferry port you go from and which country you drive through

 

Driving from manchester area.

 

have been a couple of times, but flown and got a hire car. the ferry from newcastle is no more.

it is better than it looks on dvd but damned expensive

 

its a long long time on the ferry from newcastle to stavanger !!!

Its one thing you need to get over to ,go to the rudskogen one in july thats the one we went to and is regarded as the best ,average bhp is 500

Rudskogen in july has been the biggest, but too many people on to little space.

 

It seems like Rudskogen is open next year as well.

i want to go next year aswell to the july event,im on the n/e coast of scotland and was thinking of making a road trip out of it,how many miles is it from the port in denmark to rudskogen?

 

you,d do it in a day via sweden mate
best bet is ryanair liverpool-oslo(sandefjord/torp) hire a car (rent a wreck?)the flight is about 1 hr 20 mins
i do the flight 5/6 times every 12 months.........
cheapest and fastest way i.m.h.o

 

i did it in July and drove went from dover calais it was 1250 miles from birmingham and took me 2 days, the drive was the bollox to be honest im doing it again next year

Just remember the July event is at Vĺler next year, not at rudskogen
