Default Hi, i'm new here and considering a Escos

Hi guys, I'm looking for info from experienced minds.

I have just sold my Skyline R33 GTR and have been looking for something smaller, quick and can be used with atleast 400bhp as a daily driver.

Please can you shed some light on the tuning side of the Cosworth.

Would a GT30 with a External Waste Gate be a good choice for tuning the YB to 400bhp?

When i drove a cosworth i didn't like the 5 speed box, any chance of getting a 6 speed? As i am use to having a 6 speed with the GTR. I have heard of the R&D 6 Speed Box but don't have much knowledge of it. anyone shine some light on it?

Brakes, i have read the brakes on Martin Hadlands Monster Cosworth are pretty much the ultimate for stopping, any info on these? all i know are they are Brembo 8 pots.

I do apologies for being a noob about cosworths but i do hope it ticks all the boxes. I am looking to build a car that i can use on a everyday basis and have a enough power to have some fun when the road is a little clear lol

Thank You for any help given.

An EsCos would be a poor choice for a 400bhp daily driver.
Buy an Evo

There are many ways of reaching 400bhp. But I wouldnt use a 400bhp Cosworth as a daily driver like the above. Search/read on the forum about different options
R&D gearbox is definately not suited for a daily driver either.
The Brembo 8 pots are very expensive, some AP 6 pots does the job.

I have to agree with Cam, 400bhp daily driver, it has to be Evo.

You mention that you didn't like the 5 speed box and prefered the 6 speed of your R33 GTR, hmmm..... It must have been converted to 6 speed then as they were 5 speed too.

You don't need the same brakes that I have Phil on a 400hp car.

But thats like saying if you really fancy eating an apple, buy an orange, if you have decided you want a cosworth its because of many factors including its history, style and how much you are into your Fords, not just dyno figures.
The evo is technically a fantastic car yes, but I wouldnt want one for the same reasons I didnt want an XR3i covered in tiger stripes in the late 80's

Driving a 400bhp Escort around is no different than a 200bhp one.. Unless your typical 'daily driving' is abusing the hell out of it!

Ive had a 400bhp daily driver EsCos and a 400bhp daily driver Evo so my comments are from real world experience of living with both.
EsCos looks better yes in fact its probably my favourite real world car for looks but far better enjoyed as a weekend fun car.
