i think labour can be the only party in the whole world that could manage to get the country into the red in a booming economy!(before the start of the recession!)

typical labour take power with the country in the black!give it back in mega debt!

i certainly don't remember the country being fucked when that prick blair come in, i remember it well i bought my first cozzie and oasis was in the charts at number 1 with do you know what i mean., the sun shined and petrol was cheep, i had a mk2 escort rs2000 that i was looking forward to getting free road tax when it hit 25 years old and that wanker stopped it all.

schools weren't bad, hospitals didn't have super bugs, and the place wasn't as bad as now

you must be a comedian!

they banned handguns which caused gun crime to double and made the legal gun owners look like a bunch of murdering thugs.

cash for honours.

mandelson ripped off a bank and got away with it.

robin cook was shagging his secretary and dumped his wife(remember the labour statement ''no more sleeze'').

took peoples rights away to protest near parliament.

tosspot blair willingly joined bush in an illegal war and concocted the 45 minute WMD bullshit story to justify his actions.

opened the gates to every immigrant to walk in and gave them a nice cushy life.

criminals can break the law but if they get hurt in the process, they can sue the victim for any injuries.

fuel prices soared(Ł1.19p a litre for unleaded around here) and what did labour do....increase the fuel duty.

under this labour government,we have being victimised by criminals and sued afterwards, ripped off, lied to,seen our loved ones and friends get killed in an illegal war.

*so what good has labour done for this country?

*immigrants, criminals, labour cronies and warmongers need not answer.

So true. and yes the sun dont shine like it used to, in fact we didnt even get a summer this year!

Problem is this "tax cut" is more about spin doctoring than a soultion to recession!!

I cant see 2.5% off VAT making any significant difference to the economy, and is going to cost companies a fortune in altered IT systems and reprinted stationary etc to take account of the new amount.

Bad idea IMHO

I think you meant to say Nigel Lawson

We should should keep in mind that any cut in VAT rates is likely to be followed by a period of raised rates e.g. 20%+...No free lunch here...

To us more intelegent folk and people who are in business yes its a stupid idea.
(Only business' i can see which will benifit are the major corporate shops, as they can off set the admin alterations against the "improved" sales.)

But to the majority, the brain deads out there, the ones who bloody voted labour in, the 'general public' they think its a great idea.

Its like dangling a carrot in front of a donkey.

I got a much better idea, why not cut fuel duty, IMHO i think it would benifit more people. as fuel price effects virtually everything.

Lol, for Lee Reynolds, I think you'll find the Tories last stint in power were the first govt since the war to be paying back the National Debt rather than increasing borrowing like knobrot Blair. All blair and Brown did was borrow heavily to pump up the economy and stimulate spending and sell off all our Gold reserves ( which are now virtually priceless ) whilst simultaneously fucking the private pensions in the asshole

Do you know HOW much they have wasted over the years. I have some involvement with DWP and the LSC in my job and they fucking piss money up the wall like it grows on trees. Millions and millions. Makes me sick sometimes

What they need to do is lower tax/vat on the important stuff, like heating and electric and raise it on the luxurys like fags and beer. IMHO.

I'd rather people could afford heating and I went without my fags.

A Fuel duty change would cost far less for businesses to implement.

Would have been a FAR better idea IMHO

Dangerous business taxing the rich hard, as they are typically the people with the most choices about going and living somewhere else and hence paying no tax here at all if they think they are being taxed too hard.

well, they aren't about to tax the poor anymore, they can't afford it, plus, taxing the rich gives them a greater margin

Paying taxes is the exclusive hobby of the poor and the stupid.

No one who isnt one or the other pays them to any significant extent IMHO

makes the situation very serious for my parents now as i think they will now permently move and live on the yacht and only visit the UK for (what is it 56 days a yr)

I know when i just spoke to my dad before he is now moving Money, Bond out of this country and gonna buy a place in spain & not have a UK base and use the money over there, but we will have to see as they are thinking about bring the yacht back from the caribean and having it in the Med again (so i get to do the Atlantic crossing again)

The only advantage to me is nice cheap holidays in a mint part of spain & on the boat whenever i want

Can't be fucked to read all this, so apologies if this is a repeat.

Cutting VAT won't make any difference at all. Prices won't go down as retailers will achieve bigger margins, income tax has stayed the same so your take home won't change and the country is taking on Ł100bn of debt to fund it all. That means in 13 months when VAT goes back up, so will taxes meaning we'll all be worse off.

Anyone who thinks this is a good thing needs their head read. It's bad news for us all and isn't even the 'quick fix' they're trying to sell it to the public as.

Dreamers. All they're doing is landing the country even deeper in the shit than it already is. And we'll be the ones to fund it all.

Bring back Thatcher!!!!!

But on a seriouse note, this 2.5% VAT adjustment will do nothing for no one,the onlything in 18months or so vat goes back up,NI increases and no doubt your personal tax will go up aswell and all this combined WILL hurt everyone all over again.

Aye at the cost of the hard working man, rather than at the cost of the suited fat cat.

I dont know a single person who hasnt been better off since labour got in....apart from when i speak to people with plenty plenty of money!

place is just full of moaning cunts. Labour are wankers...theyll vote the tories in, then they will be wankers and want labour back in.

This is worldwide. This is not caused by our government. If the tories were in this would have happend. How do you think they would try to pull the economy round?

Im relatively right wing, but the tories have NO credible candidate to rival gordon brown IMHO.

Despite this VAT fuckup, I honestly believe he is the person in the UK best qualified to steer the UK through difficult economic waters, he genuinely was a brilliant chancellor IMHO.

Everyone thinks he's blinding because they've had a good few years out of him, now its time to pay for it.

To be honest this is Tony's mess. He knew what he was doing.

I dont believe that he was in a position to stop a worldwide trend of dodgy lending, if he had tried to stop it there would have been outrage from all the idiots in the city who actually believed they had a fucking clue what they were doing in the first place who would have accused him of damaging the economy, and everyone would have beleived them!
