Default Dismantling Wings Mirrors

I’m trying to dismantle my wing mirrors, as the car’s going off for a full respray soon. How the hell do they come apart? I can’t see how the colour part comes apart from the mounting. Is there a trick in removing it?

I've got the glass and motor out, but cannot get the colour part off?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks
John

It's from a Big Turbo 93 Escort. See pictures taking from my phone. The colour piece comes loose, but I cannot get it over the frame?

thats as far as you can go without removing the peened over bit where the wires come through (its a rivet really) at the pivot point

i tried to get one replaced but failed

Well, I must say, that that's a crap design. So if you break the colour bit, you have to buy a whole wing mirror assembly?
