Default The Credit Crunch and cars.

Just seing how much some cars have lost in value compared to 4-6months ago is unreal! Ok i toke a hit on my 330d and sold it at 11.5k 3 months ago. But now there are 2005 330CD asking 11k shocked! these were min 15k 4-6months ago.

Some cars especially premium big engined ones are sinking fast. Looks like got out of mine just in time and living life in a old 306gti dont seem that bad

CAP have just written a piece in a trade motoring journal saying that cars, LCV's and HGV's are all about to be downgraded pricewise. I expect a 25% drop across the board.

There's some amazing bargains out there, but they haven't finished falling yet!

I was looking at the new shape 5 series diesels last night, can't believe the prices.. mind you, m5's, x5's, well basically everything is so much cheaper now.

That is just proper mental, what a car for Ł3500 !!

The nice thing is looking at Cossie prices, particularly 3 Doors, 500's and Escorts they seem to be pretty static, I know there will always be exceptions where people have to get out of something quickly but just shows a Cossie is a good investment really.

The only people who seem not to realise that things are cheaper is cossie owners

I am looking on websites all the time and cant believe what stupid high prices people are asking for old cossies

Dont get me wrong i love cossies , but when you look at the prices all other cars are dropping down people will have to start being realistic and drop the price of cossies / RS "s if the want to sell them

I have sold 2 escort cossies in the last month 1 for 8k and the other 9k and were both great cars

Priced to sell

Thing is, there will be no more Cossies, and good ones are getting harder and harder to find.

There are new Subarus, Evo's, M Series BMW's coming along all the time pushing the value of the older cars down.

Its simple supply and demand, with the other performance cars there is always enough to go round, but with Cossies the pool of cars is only getting smaller.

You dont have to try and tell me mate , I deal in these cars
All im saying is that people have to realise that you can now buy an M5 for 7k , and i know what i would rather own a M5 for 7k or a 20 year old cossie

Cossies are a special car , but when times are hard everything drops if you want to sell it

But the number of people who actually want to own a cossie these days is less so yes there are fewer cars but there are fewer potential buyers, where as scoobys and evo's etc are a decent everyday sporty car so have more of a market to average joe.

thing is with cozzies that are for sale at top money is if the owner is coined up and not skint and desperate ,why should they sell for loads less because the goverment fucked things up.

people that are skint are the ones to buy from, you can tell them easy cos they drop the price too quick, i'm seeing expensive cars for bargain prices.
you try finding a 10 year old clio with say 60k miles and powersteering history good mot etc for 500 quid !! them small cars and others of simmilar type are doing good money

Pug garage here are offering all new cars with 50% off so it just goes to show how much they are making on them if they can allow that and it's not for the boggo base models with no extra's either which i was shocked at.

Cossies have dropped over the last couple of months so i'll be enjoying mine for a good few years to come.

We are also going to buy a Focus RS in May/June so hoping to pick up a decent deal

Hi Paul
Got any more escort cozzies at that price looking to change my 3 door for one

I have seen a few 3 doors and escort cozzies sell at cheap prices and think you right if you want to sell at the moment cozzies are dropping a bit too but no like in other motors though.

Cheers

Ian

Cozzies are like shares they might come down a bit at the moment cause times are hard but they will soon go back up again when things start to improve 2009.

I just bought a car for the mother in law a 320ci bmw convertible the bloke we bought it off bought from a garage 14 months ago for 15k. We just give him 8k!!!! Its a joke with prices at the moment did you see top gear week before last and quoting some of the loses of cars one of the worst being a db9 worth 26k with 10k on the clock. Anyway we could go on about the prices all day it wont change anything.

Cheers

al agree with you there jay , its getting harder to make a wage on cars just now everybodys only looking for the Ł500 run a rounds , anything over Ł2000 and u struggle to shift it . but yet the salvage prices are still doing a fortune at the market/auction , a honestly dont know who they sell them to at some of the prices they sell for

salvage has allways been rediculous though, i allways found i could go down the block and pick up a straight one with higher miles for the same as they want for slaughtered ones

I'm hoping too mate!!! Just bought a house so will have to wait a few months until bonus time!!!!! Really pleased with it and a lot nippier than I was expecting. Do you know of any Boxster guru's? My electric roof has decided to stop working yesterday, believed to be a sensor issue but not sure!! Relying on the peeps on boxa.net at the moment!!!!
