priming a tdci turbi

Default priming a tdci turbi

hello all, i should get my new turbo for a focus tdci , ive put a few turbo,s on before but never done a diesel before, do you do the same as you would a petrol engine and turn the engine over with the coils off till the oil light goes off and do this a few times

they are self priming. Although you should do your best to fill the fuel filter before turning over as the tdci pumps dont like to run dry

Whatever you do, don't crack the damned injectors off, you could end up seriously damaged. LOL

Am I missing something here....why would he crack the injectors open if hes trying to prime a turbo!!??

Did you get a syringe of oil to fill the turbo with prior to starting the engine...if so use it!!!

Try using the immobiliser to stop it from starting - i.e. remove the transducer from the key if you can so you can turn it over without it catching!!

ok just got my new turbo this morning and the intructions says..

FILL TURBO INLET WITH OIL UNTIL OIL STREAMS OUT OF TURBO OIL FEED PIPE BEFORE FITTING TURBO

CRANK ENGINE UNTIL OIL STREAMS OUT OF TURBO OIL FEED PIPE BEFORE FITTING TURBO

AFTER FITTING TURBO CRANK ENGINE FOR 30 SECS, TO BUILD OIL PRESSURE

anyone now the best way to crank my focus tdci with out it starting? eveidently its diesel , what about unpluging the ecu

update on this, just been to main ford dealership and spoken to a mechanic, he says as long as you prime by hand they would start it up and not rev it

As per Ford instructions thats all ive ever done on cars or trucks petrol or diesel !!
Allways told that as a apprentice and also on a couple of main agent courses over the years !!
