will a erst block fit a frst
does the bottom end from a erst fit a frst if not what has to be done to make it fit?

it will fit but im not sure if the mfi engine has a hole for flywhee pick up ?
i'm sure an expert will be along shortly

It will fit but the FRST block has a hole in for the crankshaft sensor. A good machine shop will be able to machine the hole in though.

if you get a erst lump from a 90 spec one am sure they have the hole mate

Don't forget you'll need to change the oil drain pipe stub if your fiesta is still running a T2.

The 90 spec S2`s DONT have the hole for the pickup as they never ran a crank sensor, it was only when the fiesta came out and it changed to EFI!

later S2s, so only 90-spec (but not necessary ALL of them) had the block with the crank sensor hole in them but still ran MFi - the hole was just that - a hole

you could get a trigger wheel set up fitted to crank pulley to overcome the lack of hole in the block

I've had the hole drilled on mine, - its not a big deal. There is a diagram on PF somewhere giving the exact measurements;- thats what I used.
As has already been said - some late 1990 S2s do definitely have the hole, - but they have a bung in them. Annoyingly they don't get the 36-1 flywheel either; and they can be tricky to find now.
