I have recently fitted a new oil pump around a month ago.
however, now I have the oil pressure light flickering when the car is ticking over after a short drive?
the oil feed has been cleared when i did the pump as i know their prone to blockage which can cause the above to happen.

does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be?

 

mine did this when the bottom end went

 

well aside from a slight crack that caused a water leak a while back the rest of the bottom end is sound.

at least i hope it is !! haha

 

i thort that aswell until it did that then on way home steady driving 2 mile oh so to my house could hear it starting to knock

 

bugger, i have just arrived at Uni, so i have an 8 mile drive home, i shall have to see what it does then!

just take it steady and if you hold revs just so your throttles just touching but not off if you get me hard to explain you could hear it knocking slightly, well you could on mine

 

yeah i know what you mean, i shall try that one my home and hopefully i wont hear anything!

mind you if i do at least it solves the problem. :s

well thats what was up with mine i dont know if pump had failed oh what just fort bugger it full rebuild time

 

well the small crack in the block was only temporarily fixed, so i guess if got an excuse to replace it now if thats the case.

 

Could be your pressure switch........??

 

What oil have you got in it? If its cheap shit, that could be it.

As above check the switch.

I have seen two new engines being run in (or just thrashed to fuck truth be known) on mineral oil and this problem happened. Good quality oil and problem solved. Just an idea!

But as you stated, I generally agree it sounds like a bottom end!

 

Just out of interest mate how and where did you crack your block??

 

i always used quality oil, did two oil changes in 5month before it died. if he catches it in time crank might not be that bad

 

pick up blocked,switch fooked,oil shite or more then likey,bottom end is dying a death!
