Default PS3 40g or 80g

What are the advantages having the 80g other than the obvious an extra 40g's They seem to be 3 times the price so what else is there that the 40g doesn't have?

80gb supports backwards compatibility and has more USB ports.

There are a few more slight techical differences, but they're all way over my head

Only early 60gb had PS2 support. No 80GB in this country did.

80gb has rumbling controllers and 40gb more space than then 40gb and thats it.

As stated the 60GB for the first released and is backwards compatable.

The 40GB is a console only.

The 80GB is a 40GB with a bigger hard drive.

If your buying new get the 80GB.

Seems like a good price. PS3's are really holding their value and the games are top titles worth a few quid

£200 with those games is a good price IMO. Bin your PS2 and games, you won't play them And if hard drive storage is an issue, changing to a bigger hard drive sin't a problem. I have a 320 drive in mine with every episode of Two And A Half Men on it

First gen also had card reader, which is in the flap your talking about

You are all aware that the hard drive is just a laptop hard drive. You can pick up brand 80gb laptop hard drives up for £30.00

60GB is the one too have really but as you cant buy them anymore, id say 80gb

80GB is a 40GB basicly but with bigger hard drive, as everyone said

40GB & 80GB - 2 USB Ports, Cant play PS2 games (why would you anyway?) etc etc

60GB - 4USB hub's, you can play PS2 games ( i have never played any anyway) etc

you get the idea?

Why not buy a 40gb, upgrade the hard drive for an additional £40 and with the money you saved not getting the 80gb buy some games

Well i brought it, actually had 5 games with it so result!! As said about hard drives, i'll upgrade it if I ever need to. I'm not a heavy gamer and to be honest I'll probably use it more for films anyway.

Thats it mate, to be honest you can get 3/4 gb usb drives for peanuts these days so thats also another option. Just plug the usb in and watch your movies from that or link you ps3 to your computer via TVersity and keep all your movies on your pc's hard drive and watch them wirelessly from the pc through the ps3 on your HD TV. (boo yeah)
