Just bought some 17 mos for my 4x4 saff they are 8 x 17 et35. What tyre size would be best?

225/40-17, or 235/40-17 or maybe a lower profile, maybe 235/35-17?

 

Or go for the gay look and stretch sommot like a 215/40 over it?

 

Won't 225 or 235 rub on the front arch?

 

Dunno mate, I own a 3dr you see. I based the tyre size guesses on the fact that standard they run a 7j wheel with a 205 tyre. I run a 8.5j on the front on a 235 tyre, but tbh my rims are et15.

 

215/40/17 on front
235/40/17 on rear but you have to have stiff suspension and might have to slightly mod arch as they can somtimes catch but they look hard

As long as the height of the tyre is the same they should be ok.I think the 225,s will catch or less you have different suspesion on your car.Ive got them gay 215/40/17s on mine and they sometimes catch on the front arches.

And as the height of a 215/40-17 is going to be obvisouly different to the height of a 235/40-17 as he mentioned, then no he wont be ok Glad you agree that a 215 looks gay on a 8j rim btw

Same overall diameter as std wheel and tyre, you are making use of the extra width of the wheel.
It baffles me why more people don't use this size.

Available in Falken FK452, and a Continental tyre that i know of. But i'm sure there are other makes available.

tbh mate until recently, I wasnt aware that 35 profiles were availble for 17's and im fairly sure not many others know either. I found out a couple weeks after a bought a set of four 40 profile eagle f1's as well
