Default How do I tell a "GENUINE" mk2 mexico

How do I tell the difference between a standard shell & a mexico shell? What if the inner wings were changed? A log book with vin tags can be bought & a seller could say its a genuine mexico. Please tell me how I can define 1 from the other.

Cheers

Genuine RS models have reinforced strut tops.
Genuine RS Mexico would originally have had a black back panel where the rear number plate sits.

The genuine Mexico was only built between Jan 1976 & September 1978.

It should have axle location rods fitted on each side of the car locating the axle to the bodywork.

Check that the wheels are the correct age & type for the car if fitted with 4 spokes.

Genuine RS Mexicos should be fitted with chassis plates with the words GCAT stamped on the VIN plate & logbook
