Question Sapphire RS Cosworth AUTO!!

Hi guys, Can anyone help me with this. I have just taken said car in a p/ex deal. Up until now I did not even know they exsisted!
I have been digging and have been told Ford commisioned a few to be made just before the 4x4 model in late 89. Also been told Performance Ford magazine road tested the Auto so would love to know what year/issue it was.
Anyone able to back up what i've been told already or have any other interesting info on it??
Its a 1989 F reg, Flint Grey, 2WD, With cloth Recaro's, Air Con! and a Sunroof
cheers

There were a few 'special orders' - I believe there's at least one of each: 3 door, Sapphire and 4x4 Sapphire that had an auto box specified when they were ordered. I'm sure they've been posted here or on the RSOC forum.

They made several auto sierra cossies, same as they made 1 3 door 4wd, and V6 cossie escort.
They also made a special auto rs2000(mk2) for a ford big wig who came over to the uk years ago, he could only drive auto!!
I'm 99% sure the cossies auto's use a A4LD box, but with uprated bits.

There is also a RST(mk2), that was running(shortened) complete sierra 4x4 mechanicals as development(for later 4wd cossie) yb etc, E386 YVX.

Indycos, Thats It!!!!
Thats my new baby! Do you know this car??
As for sideways, It really does not need much coaxing!!
It now has a K&N on it and Escort Cossie Wheels but I would like to return it to standard I think.
Not sure when I've had all the little bits done and its perfect to keep hold of it and store it or sell........
hmmmmm

The gear lever surround certainly looks std A4LD, 4 speed as fitted to later std sierra.
You can get a adjustable vac capsule on these boxes as I have a brand new one in my garage, that I was going to fit on mine, I also have a shift improver kit, fits into the valve housing and beefs up all the change points, when I ordered one from the states, it was lost so they sent me another, 3 weeks later the first one turned up by which time I had fitted the replacement, company told me to keep it, made a massive difference to this otherwise sluggish box.
I alos fitted a winnebago rv trans cooler, about 3/4 the size of the rad as these cook otherwise, the us cars with the same boxes used air drafting to fan air around and over the boxes to stop this.
Well worth doing a trans cooler on these.

It's not auto, it's automatised dual clutch gearbox - something ocmpletely different. Complete off-topic here.
