"Trading" on passionford
Hi Guys,
I understand that for SELLING items as a trader you have to be a fully paid up trader to do so...and to reply to wanted ads etc etc...
but I don't really think the rules are clear on WANTED ads on here from what I can gather on a recent post being moved/removed.
i.e. Person X is a well known mobile phone repair shop owner. He uses PF to place a "wanted" post for broken/unwanted Mobile phones...Is this classed as trading?
I might have got a big fat wooden spoon out on this one...but I'm just trying to get an answer for future reference...and to maybe bring it to your attention that if you dont want people BUYING things on here they can use in their day to day business if they are not a paid up trader, then it might be worth re-writing the "rules" to that effect.

Thought Id post it up in here instead of GD and have a riot on my head.

I believe this did used to say SELLING items as a trader
I believe that recent events (someone buying a car off her to the readdvertise on here for spare parts for example) mean that the rules are not clear.
Maybe you should include that people are not allowed to advertise for parts wanted if they are a trader, in their known trade (i.e a mobile phone repair shop asking for broken mobile phones),unless they pay traders fees.
11. Buying or selling items as a trader.
Members either known to be, or considered by the web team to be traders must be registered as official PassionFord traders and have paid the current fee to be able to enter any sale advertisements whatsoever on the forum or be registered with a business name. Registration is also required in order to place or reply to wanted adverts.
In addition to this, because a Trade user will build up a level of trust and trade recognition within the community, they will no longer be allowed to trade on PassionFord or retain their trade name if they chooses to withdraw their trade status and site support. This is to stop unscrupulous traders registering for a few months and then trading for free on the back of the status built up in that time. The selling ban for ex-traders includes offering items for sale in signatures and posts as well as replying to wanted adverts.
Please Note: Traders found to be publically referring work to ex- PF traders will be asked to leave PassionFord as a trader as it is unfair to other paying traders. The Bottom line, if you want to trade using PassionFord, you must pay the traders fee.
PassionFords Banner traders are allowed one "sale related" topic in the general Discussion forum only at any one time as an extra perk for his increased financial input to the site.
Please be advised these rules will be updated/altered at any time, so please review them frequently.

What is the scenario in question?
basically.. it's not written clearly enough for some people. and there are flaws within the rules. i.e. if silky had kept quiet, and made a post declaring he'd had enough of cosworth ownership, everything for sale.. he wouldn't have had his post removed.

It seems also that Jimbo (hes banned, he cant read this and shout at me) has been done for touting for heads or something for SCS...and it doesnt say anywhere in the rules that you cannot place ads here for parts wanted to help further your business...unless you pay the traders fee.

From the rules:

With regards cars for sale we take the same stance as many online car sales websites and deam a user with more than 4 car sales per annum as a professional/part time car trader, thus gold membership will not cover it and he/she must register as a trader or cease selling at once. This is to protect PF from unscrupulous part time car traders trying to make a living from PassionFord by using our user base to tout their goods.
Any user found to be selling an unusual amount of car parts may also be deemed as trading due to the current popularity of this as a way to earn money in the Ford Rs Scene. Generally speaking, people do not buy whole cars just for the drivers seat and then had to sell the rest on via PassionFord, as some members would like us to believe. If you want to trade in parts, this is the place to do it, but you will need to pay your pay like everyone else.

Sorry Stu, Ive been away since Friday morning.
I understand it now, but it might make more sense to people if there was a kind of "list" of what each level of membership allows you to do.
Does "trading" also cover trades other that garages, dealerships...anything including mobile phone or something unrelated to cars?
