Default Selling cars from the roadside??

Couple of our friends are having problems with a bloke selling cars from their road. The chap is leaving cars for sale in the turning head of their close as it's visible from the main road.

Whilst they appreciate they have no legal right to park outside their own home, it would be nice especially as she is heavily pregnant so having to walk to the next street to get the car is a smidge inconvenient.

What can they do?

ring the police or council mate and they will put a sticker on the cars for sale giving them time to remove the vehicle.
If not they will remove it and impound the vehicle

Saddly the police have already been out and said they are commiting no offence (or they can't be bothered to deal with any offence taking place).

WTF, are they aware some people dont own cars, some live in tower blocks and have to deal with waking alot further

steve you have changed alot these days, you pay road tax and due to that you can use the road,,,,, thats how it works,,,,,, if someone wants to park outside there house the correct thing to do is buy a house with a drive

pregnancy aint some disability, my missus worked up to 9 months being pregnant,,,, she we never even had a car then either and she also managed to keep her figure afterwards too as she was still active rather than lounging about like most women do and blame "baby" for there MASSIVE weight gain during that time

oh and we had NO issues all the way either which is prob why other animals manage to keep going when having babys yet humans seem to get others to work round them

seriously steve your turning into a old man,,,,,

The guy doesn't live in the close, just leaves cars for sale there (and other side roads in the estate).

Ginge mate I've got no problem with people earning a crust and if the guy actually lived in the road I don't think they'd have any issue.

They aren't going to resort to any underhand tactics as it really isn't a personal thing. It's just a bit of a pain in the bum.

steve thats the thing, your mate dont own the road, he thinks he does but he dont

loads of people cant park where they want, send there kids to school where they want ect ect

its part of life, the only way to control these situations is to buy that section of road otherwise anyone can use it and cant see why people feel they have the right to complain

i remember one of my neighbours complaining years ago before we got res parking that i owned 3 cars and parked them outside and never moved them so they couldnt get the space they wanted,,,,,,, the self importance of some people really does confuse me

its a road,,, anyone can use it just like going cinema, you cant reserve your seat or moan cause someone else is sitting in a seat you wanna sit in

some people must have really empty lifes if they got time to complain about someone parking a car outside there house and look for any sort of law to get someone whos doing NOTHING WRONG at all as hes parking a car in a road

i dont own a 5 bedroom detatched house,,,, it anoys me that i dont so anyone know if theres anything to do that will get me one even though i cant afford it,,,, seems wrong that others are richer than me and feel i should also be rich too

obviously its a public road but having a bit of thought and decency for the people that actually live there should be a common courtesy.

http://www.thisisplymouth.co.uk/corn...l/article.html

It's a council issue and as such should be reported to the council.

There was an example near me where I live in Lancashire people were using one road purely to sell cars from, all the cars were removed and persistent offenders were fined.

Call the council tell them it's a nuisance and they should sort it.

spray glue over the adds on the cars glass and stick a sheet of paper to cover the contact details or brick the fucking windows ! i live in a dead end street and had some people thinking they could park untaxed cars on it,while residents struggle to park.the dvla soon came and lifted them.

Leave a note on the car asking them to not park their sale cars in spaces used by residents of the road.

This may be ignored, so prickstick a large sign saying the same on the screen, after a few times they will get hacked off and stop no doubt,

No damage to the car, just an inconvienince like the one he is causing.

Teh council should be sorting this for you, but don't hold your breathe.

I personally WOULD be annoyed if a non resident was taking up spaces in the street, parking is bad enough, just good manners not to take the piss.

Put it into the motor insurance database, if it is not insured it is an offence for it to be on the road

how about just approach the guy and ask him and explain the situation , most people are actually approch able and will gladly move it , as hes probably not even aware of the womens situation , no need for the passionford mafia as a know if a had a car parked there and one of yous keyed the side or glues whatever as yous are seggesting it would just start a war .

A mate had this, he just kept on covering up the ads so people couldn't see the cars info, price or phone no. So it was pointless as it wasn't actually being advertised!

Nothing major just an A4 piece of paper over the ads on the glass

A guy does this down the road from me, i dont give a frig....

Doesnt affect me in anyway, he doesnt park over my drive, sometimes he puts them outside my house. Fair play to him. Its a busy road so he does well. I dont own the road so i cant moan at him. As long as he isnt over your drive, or interfering in your property in any way shape or form i shouldnt bother mate. If your mate has a problem then let him sort it himself....

depends on how much it pisses you off IMO - if it was me i'd start polite - then go from there

this happened to someone who parks cars in this street i pass on my way to work - driving to work one day and the 3 cars he had for sale down there had paint brushed on them.

now i'm not condoning this, but i did piss myself laughing - funnily enough i never saw a car for sale in that street again
