mondeo cosworth conversion
chaps;
few questions - i've got some spare money and i fancy doing a cossie conversion on another ford - i dont really fancy doing a mk1 or mk2, but i do fancy a mondeo
now what i need to know is what's invloved - i already have a 205 blocked cossie lump spare
is it really difficult- i want rwd, so i guess the tunnel will need enlarging, can i use a cossie t5 easily enough
i know there was a quick dark green mondeo with a cossie engine in years ago. i remember seeing it in mags
cheers, Terry

The original Mondeo touring cars were rear wheel drive, but that came from them using the only two available Mondeos, which were 4x4, and had the front wheels disconnected from the drivetrain.

Rouse Did evaluate the mondeo in RWD format in late 92 early 93, it was so far off the pace that the idea was scrapped in favour of the FWD V6 that was used until 2000 .
RWD Mondeos have competed successfully in europe in Belgian GT etc.. I had one until last year ,sadly the shell wasn't up to what i required and its now been butchered up for a project at X-sport in basingstoke .

Sorry but cozmeister is correct, the early BTCC mondeo was RWD as there was to be a 4x4 mondeo it allowed theme to pick one set of driven wheels in this case they used the rear it was however RWD with a transverse engine. As the 4x4 mondeo was delayed a year it forced the cars to become FWD.
i dunno what mondeo you want to rwd and cozzify. There already was a mk3 cosworth mondeo i posted on here way back and heres the link

*goes to find video to prove it*
Possibly around the same time , a German customer of mine had to go to Koen Pauwels to collect some focus stuff a few years back and saw it sitting there , he mailed me some pics and i went and bought it from that .
No need as you are indeed correct it did not compete as RWD. When it finally did race at the end of the season it was FWD. I was was just trying to help clarify the point (somewhat poorly) that the original intention was to race the car in a RWD form, apologies for any confusion.
