Default Fuel pump rewire kit , high afr help?

As per previous post my car on load is running 13.4 afr , fuel pressure is 4 bar at idle.
I havent got the fuel pump rewire kit fitted yet but while on load fuel pressure is still ok on the gauge.
Does this mean that the original wiring is ok or could the prob be the because the rewire kit isnt fitted..

if the preasure aint dropping i dont think this will be the cause of the car running lean, sure i will be corrected if i am wrong

ps if you are checking it on andys rolling road you could check voltage at the pump when on boost

if fuel pressure doesnt drop then voltage hasnt dropped. iirc your head flows 28 % more than standard so getting loads more air than old engine.

If fuel pressure is ok as the AFR falls then its not the pump filter or lines causing the issue.

Carlo,

Did you check the AFR at say half throttle and 1 bar boost. It should have been around 12.5:1. As I've mentioned on your other post, if after you have re-wired the pump the engine is still running lean, then prime suspect is TPS sensor wired incorrectly.

Also make sure that you don't have ANY possible leaks on either the map sensor of fuel pressure reg lines. Don't for example have a dump valve T-pieced in to either the map sensor of fuel pressure regulator vac lines as this could easily cause the same problem.

Good luck wit it Carl, Do as the pro's have said, but also check the mounting of the fuel rail, I had the same prob a while back & it turned out to be the thread in the plenium that holds the rail on had gone so the pressure of the injectors etc was pushin the rail out, was no signs of leaks or anything & only happened when flat out !!

Karl did the MAP for mine in the same way as you want (Phil's old engine) & when we put Chip's Wideband on it, the fueling was SPOT on !! so trust his word, it WON'T be the MAP !!

Just to question the obvious, when you say that on boost the fuel pressure is ok, you mean that at 2 bar of boost you have 6 bar of pressure yes?

Well it should go to 5.7 bar of fuel pressure when on full boost then.
If it doesnt its a fuel pump or wiring problem, if it does then that isnt your issue (although may still be worth upgrading anyway)
