Default oh no, my new batterys leaked!!!

hi people, i've just been out cleaning the engine bay on my car when i noticed me bat had been leaking, causing the paint to lift off the battery tray and wrecking my nice new clean brake cylinder. Anyone ever have this happen and complain? if so what happened?

Email'ed them this letter

hi, my name is Adam Smith and i bought a battery (12v 60Ah 500en) uk no097 about 6 month ago. the problem i have is the battery has leaked on my car causing rust and the paint to lift off. My car means a great deal to me and i keep it imaculate as i enter it in shows and its purely a weekend toy, i now need to get the battery tray painted. is there any way we could share the cost or come to an agreement. thanks for your time Adam

Its VERY unusual for a battery to just leak.
I sold loads of them for 15 years and only ever saw one leaker.
Before there is any negotiation, I'm sure the supplier will want to inspect the battery.
Usual caused are over filling, over charging, putting the battery down on a stone and puncturing the case, or - as did for most Mk3 escorts - rain water leaks onto the battery and washes the tray with acidic water on a regular basis.
Good Luck.

I've never had this happen to me before but its coming from what looks like where the lid gets joined to the base, when i looked there was a wet line where it had ran. When i bought the battery new i just put it straight in my car, its never needed charging. fingers crossed i get a result.
