Default importing goods?

I'm looking to import three 'redhead' lights with stands for around 100 uk pounds. Delivery works out to be 80quid.

Does anyone know how import Vat, customs duty etc are worked out. I don't wanna buy them and end up paying four hundred quid.

Ive looked on the customs site, but i couldn't find any thing that helped.

This probably turn into another thread lost with in the abyss.

Have you checked the Royal Mail website? It's us you end up having to pay.
