new car suggestions for 2k
as above , looks like ive sold the combi and ive got no more than 2k to buy a car.
it HAS to be fairly new ie 1999/2000 ish
and fairly big not 2 seater
been looking at mk4 golfs
early leons
astra sri???
even seen a few is200's at that price.
any ideas???

2 litre twin spark has another smaller timing belt that runs behind the cambelt, that comes with the cambelt kit. So yeah I said belts, plural. Smartarse.
V6 Quad cam runs off one belt as do twin Sparks other than the 2.0, cams are timed using locking blocks as pulleys arent located on keys and can be slackened and rotated to adjust tension.

is200's are good built and a nice to drive car. think you'll be disapointed with a astra sri specaily if its it the non turbo model. they look very plasticy and i dont think they drive very well. not just slating them as there a vauxhall coz ive got 4 at the minute.

i wasnt being a smartarse - i was asking a question,....most cars i've worked on have only had 1 cambelt - you said cambelts, implying it had more than one, so i asked "so they have more than one" - you answered my question....a simple yes would have sufficed.

Rover 45's are shit, Vauxhalls are cheapo, you can get a proper car for the same money these days. I've got a Saab 9-5 2.0 Turbo Aero up for £1700 atm, sold a V6 Alfa 156 last week for £1300 that had all the pleated blue leather, 17's, sportronic box, the works. You can get a lot of car for your 2k on 99-02 plates since everybody's stopped spending.
