had a cracking day out today.had a bad start.got up to watch the f1.no probs there, got ready, got the car out(in the crappy fog
), then headed out to snetty.
got a fair way out and then realised i'd left my ticket and car pass at home
so had to turn back
got there a bit late but met up with mike r,kelv and kim,richie(b9kos),luca(nice to meet you bud) and a load of others form the essex end, twins, ronnie aims etc.
had a chat and then i decided i couldnt leave the escort in the filth it was so got the detailer out.
then off to the show.modified live. hmmm. some cracking cars but far too many shonky max power shitboxes there
the track action was great.good viewing, good driving(from most) and a cracking selection of cars, including warren kelly's stunning escort.
saw rossco and a couple of his mates on the way back but had to back out of a race with his mates mk1 gte (turbo?) due to my car still having "issues"

all in all a good day out, roll on the next one
anyway here are some pics

ok so there some stuff people wont like.but i like my yank stuff too.and the drift cars are great imo.
but spot on day, once the sunny burnt the fog off
cheers to all who stopped to chat

Great too, just got back home now and poor old Richie wont get back till half 11, after leaving at 3am this morning thats one hell of a day!!!!!
Good to meet you to mate and the banter going around was as much fun as the day itself.
However, we have some funny funny stories to tell on the second leg of the Ritchie-Luca Road trip today.
Il let Ritchie fill in the blanks later
Real tears were had!

I was up at 4 and drove to Newbury to meet him, then hopped in the Towing machine, which I might add the God of Driving Mike R showboated and manouvered for us once at Snet
.Not my place to say what the trailer was for mate, I will let Ritchie explain all later

Wicked Atmosphere today though - AGREED! Being able to walk through the pits and garages and see the cars soo close was a highlight for me. Monsterous cars and Budgets too and everyone is so welcoming and chatty
Neil, Richie was picking up a car (quick edit as i didnt know it was a secret) on the way home. wish id known, could have popped the escort on the back this morning
good to meet up with the old faces again.
good day and good event, i could have wet dreams over Roger Clarks car (infact i think i just may!!)
Neil, some cracking photo's youve got there, and as per convo - the wonky ofset pic does look good

and Dave, cheers again for sorting out some more carbon goodies for me, other bits will be in the post (when Rainbird gets his finger out)

As for that RogerClarke car,

top level race car with Concours like qualities

insanely awesome - thats my choice of words to describe that car Luke.
Did you like my oriental interogation and bargaining skills? - it was a cracking price, just looking at his site now
we will have to make the order using the name of '3 Amigo's Motorsport'
.Top work amigo!Il be up for ordering shortly have to arrange when suitable etc for us 3.
3AmigosMotorsport

dont start Ritchie off on that idea, you know what he gets like.
Great to see the photos
I was supposed to have been there today but my mate that competes was delayed on a flight and couldn't make it so I went to shakespeare raceway instead.

To those that are whinging they didn't know about the event, there was a post advertising it in the general section for nearly TWO MONTHS, before it was moved to the "Shows" forum a few weeks ago
. Should have gone to Spec-savers?

Nice to see everyone, always a pleasure with the usual suspects that make any event so much fun

Made the final, thanks to everyone that helped me not only on the day but the weeks before in getting the car ready. Learnt so much on the day even with Rainbirds probing for info (help I'm sure he'll tell me
) I'll be stronger next time, gave it all I had on the final session as some would have seen but sadly outclass.
Timings are http://www.tsl-timing.com/attack/2008/84170.pdf
And a big well done to Ronnie for having his first even 5hit at an event, this truely was a milestone in the calendar for Ronnie and his friends. I'm sure we'll all look back at other events when we drove like nutters just to get home before he needed a new bucket seat.
I should be getting some Pro pic's from Lee as he was working on the event yesterday and took over 4000 pics
Cheers, Warren
p.s Big Thanks to Mike for sorting out this so we could bring the Fords along and the peps that took the time to come up for the event as I'm sure you'll agree it was packed with stuff.

First time I'd been to Time Attack, thanks J for taking me along
Brilliant pics Neil, (what none of the 'model's
) good to see you (and Pete, and Mini Matt etc). There were some nice show cars, some complete toss cars on 'club' stands and the car on track were absolutely awesome
Great to see the blue Ecos doing the blue oval proud, great to see it performing so well, did I hear at one point it was fourth in class? Sounded like a rocket up the pit straight, well done mate

Not really, if you put proper slick tyres on these cars, then the times would tumble by several seconds. As an example, Rod Birley's Escort does 1.12s at Snetterton and 49s at Brands, with only 500bhp on tyres that offer more corner speed than the R888s
. Warren's car which is an equivalent power / spec is 7s off that with R888s....
The BTCC cars are light-weight super grippy with HUGE corner speeds. The Time Attack cars rely on huge power engines and are limited to a two lap window before the tyres go off. They REALLY struggle for corner speed.
Even with the massive rear wing and aero that the RC car runs, the car was drifting around Corum on the verge of a HUGE accident to do his 1.09 (I've never seen anything like it!
). I have NO idea how he held the car at these speeds
. The 1.09 lap is an AVERAGE of 100+mph round Snetterton
, which IMO with the corner grip he had, shows balls of steel
. When he got out, he was sweating like a pig, as it had obviously been really hard work and he looked really emotional as he was hugging his brother and other members of the team - I don't know if this was relief from the fact that he didn't die around Corum, or because he was pleased he won
