if the tank in centrally mounted, you may be able to wiggle it out via the hole in the bottom of the seat base, just remove the rear bench and you should be ale to see it
but on the mk, you've got to drop the exhaust and move a bit of the rear suspension because the hole is about an inch too small to get the pump out of
He said R reg dojj, so that will be mk2. If you lift the back seat up, there should be a cover plate. Revove this, and you should see the pump in the top of the tank

i know what he said but if it's anythinglike the mk3 where ford decided to make the hole offset so that you could see the bits you need to see but still have to have a struggle to get the tank out etc he might not be in luck
in that case take a can opener to the seat base and do it that way, it's only a twist and click pump from memory
