Default Focus RS Track Cars?

Hi,

I was just wondering, are there any members with RS Focus's which are used as track day cars?

Just wondering what they are like really in terms of handling and engine reliability etc etc?

I have always liked the look of the RS and am a keen tracker.

Regards

why focus RS?
you looking for a STANDARD car to keep costs down?
theres a lot better cars around than a focus RS, i know its a damn brilliant and fun car to drive, believe me.
but theres a lot more cheaper-faster-more fun to drive alternatives which are cheaper and easier to repair if an accident happens!

(e.g. i know its been done to death, but pugeot 205 trackcars with a decent engine transplant are the most fun you'll have without taking your pants down)

road cars are designed for the road, track cars (radical etc) are designed for the track
road cars need a bit of "tweaking" for the track to get their full potential .

just a thought

Maybe ask on the RS Owners site, I know there were quite a few who have not long come back from the ring, and some others have done more recent track days in the last few weeks.
Barely had a problem with mine in all the years I've owned it, and its a daily driver, altho to be fair I've not tracked it?

Don't think you could go far wrong with one myself, great starting point.

allo mate, ive got a frs engine in my focus done a day at brunters with don palmer, silverstone at ford fair and oulton park this month. killed a clutch as it wouldnt take the power. i did have the turbo rebuilt but that was already faulty from the previous car.
mines running 285 bhp and 338 lb/ft it does surprise alot of people how quick it is. wel recommended. my dad was so impressed hes bought one purely for track use.

it is a good car to use its reliable and with a few tweaks is alot quicker than people expect so if you get a sensibly priced one it makes sense buddy

I've owned mine for over 4 years now and in that time its been mainly used for track, have done around 10 track days and 4 Nurburgring trips in it. I'll post some pics and a spec when at home. Fantastic fun on track out of the box but with the right upgrades its simply awesome imo. I've done a fair few things to mine, with every mod focusing on improving it for the track and how I want it to drive. Despite all this it's never let me down apart from the rad top hose popping off due to the crap spring clips Ford use (change these for jubilees, a must) and a recent thermostat housing leak which is a common fault.

I'm also a bit of a bufty so it gets PC's with the right stuff from time to time, something which I gather you're familiar with!

mine must be running a similar spec mines 285 bhp and 338lb/ft
its on a gt25 but hybrid had to be rebuilt so slightly better internals
live ds map by ric wood
upgraded chargecooler and radiator
ford racing manifold
milltek decat
blueflame exhaust
k&n panel filter
full samco hoses but dont make any performance difference really
runs a 1/4 mile in 13.9 sec at 102 mph
heres my dyno graph

will give a rough idea on performance bud, hope this helps
