IIRC i think progressive as the name suggests get harder the more you compress them, but linear are set rates ie: 120/200lb etc so they stay the same rate however much you compress them. not 100% sure though

yep - if you've ever been in a car with linear springs (live an evo6 for example) you will notice that they are a hard ride even when driving slow and this makes them feel more spoty and agile than thay maybe, but in the exception of the evo6 its is no kidology.
