Default To all turbo owners . . help!!

Hi guys wondering if anyone can help me here?!? Iv bought a escort cab with a mfi turbo engine. Now the car never ran 100% was abit spluttery and maybe dropped opnto 3 cylinders sometimes. So i cheched the emissions and the hc's were through the roof! so we thought it was an exhaust valve gone down i also pulled the leads off and nothing happen on cylinder 2 and also removed no2 piston to check for hairline cracks etc but we couldnt find any problems with the valves. So i bought a 2nd hand recon head with new valves and a kent cam and a viernier pully etc etc. Now iv replaced the headgasket and put her all back together and she fired up near enough 1st time but didint run great. Then she wouldnt start after and when she did it would idle. then sometimes it would idle very very poorly but not rev.

ive checked

all boost hoses for air leaks.
checked for a spark
checked all fuses
checked fuel pump is working
checked timing as good as possible with a vienier

Now ive got pressurised fuel to the metering unit bought nothing from the pipes off the metering unit and nothing to the injectors?? if i crak off the injectors and try the flap on the metering unit the fuel will come out but not very well not a trickle just a little spurt.

Ive checked the plugs on the back and tried disconnecting the cold start valve (which is a blue plug) and sometimes it will fire after a long time but not always. O have 2 more plugs a pale bronw and a yellow which ive tried switching rounf on the od occasion its gone to fire with these swicthed round but no good!!

Now she wont start and looks like im getting a lift to college tommorow really pssing me off now!! If anyone could help i would be much grateful cheers Nobby

If fuel is not coming from the injector lines either your metering head is dead or the idle mixture is way to lean and just needs adjusting up a bit.
Try turning the idle mixture screw 1 full turn clockwise and seeing if fuel comes out the injectors, if not i'd say metering head is dead. If you say that it only trickles out when you press the flap down i'd be thinking it is the metering head anyway.

hi mate thanks for the reply the only thing is the car was fine before i took the head off?? when you say the meetring head do you mean the whole unit or the little black box with the plug on??

The whole unit is what i would change, you could try just the black box if you have a spare?
Strange though you say it was fine before you changed the head, if there was an air leak and it wasnt sucking the flap down it wouldnt start and fuel wouldnt come out the metering head, but pressing the flap down would still make it pump fuel out.
