Default Escort RS turbo 2.0 ZVH conversion

Hi, I am doing a ZVH conversion on my RS turbo after i blew up my last engine, she was running 209.2 bhp (proven on rolling road) having the original 1.6 cvh re-bored to a 1.9, kent cam kit, superchips reprogrammed ignition ecu, piper vernier pulley, 2 stage boost control, K&N panel filter, pro motorsport radiator, full scorpion exhaust system and other engine modifications and 16psi boost, I was wondering how much BHP I would gain by doin the 2.0 ZVH conversion? She was running beautifuly untill i raced an Alfa 147 off the lights and dicked it big time, got on the motorway raced a Civic Type R and nailed that (had the escort right off the clock!) must of been doing about 150mph!! and then on the way home she decided to blow a piston! I was wondering if anyone has any idea of power gain using the 2.0 mondeo block and wether its worth doing? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Rich.

well useing a zetec block you will gaine 400cc with out having to cash out on having you cvh bored out. some people say that the zvh conversion is a wast of time beacuse you are useing the bad bits from boath engines the cvh head dosent flow that well as where the zetec head does and the zetec bottom end some consider it to be a bit slugish where the cvh is considered a rev happy engine.

the way i see it tho you are gaining 400cc extra for minimal cost. depending on what spec on zvh you build you can see any think from 200bhp to 400bhp it all depends how deep your pocket is

a zetec turbo with standard pistons rods ect ect with a decom plate have been known to see 250bhp at a push as for the zvh i would say you will see about 220bhp depending on how you spec you engine

some of the above comments are probaly gonna spark an argument lol but this is my opinion and every one is entitled to there own lol

hope this helps

Minimal cost would involve keeping the 16v head which does not require the additional costs involved of machining to allow fitting. The 16v head flows far more than the 8v head.. it has to be a pretty special 8v head to make it worth considering junking the 16valver imho.

For me there are only two choices, zetec or CVH.. not a bastardisation of these engines, its worth remembering that the fastest Escorts in the UK at this time are still powered by a CVH

Getting decent reliable power out of any engine costs money and the reality is how fast can you afford to go. I would not use standard rods on a CVH, ZVH, or Zetec above 250bhp
