Hi all, I have a rebuilt 2wd engine running 4x4 pistons. Does anyone know what my cam choices are before the valves will clip the pistons? Also any idear what compession ratio i have??

 

i heard that lowers compression to around 7.9-1 but not 100% (head being skimmed will alter it too) would be interested in the cam situation as i am on a standard engine and would maybe like to up the inlet,i know you can run a bd10 but i heard they are crap lol,can you get a bd14 without pistons mods in and without double valve springs?

 

Comp ratio is a rough one mate but i think a 2wd head and 4x4 pistons results in a comp of about 7.8:1.

As for cams i dont have a clue.

the biggest cam you can run with standard valve springs is bd14. Most people also have valve pockets in the pistons to use it, but others dont.

if i installed a bd14 inlet cam to my standard engine do you just set the cam timing as you would standard and would not touch the pistons or do you need to adjust it to stop valves hitting?

 

Cant remember Pete tbh, around Ł110 rings a bell for some reason as it was a reground standard cam.

 

Even the std cams will cause slight clipping on std pistons/cr etc.
