Default Rev limiters

Just been watching some vids of Cossies on youtube doing doughnuts, drifts, burnouts etc... and a lot of them seem to be keeping their foot planted and banging it off the rev limiter.

Does hitting the limiter constantly like this damage the engine at all?

or is the rev limiter protecting the motor from going pop? ie: it's perfectly safe to just floor it for as long as you want...

Hate hitting the limiter in my car, feels like i'm hurting it!!!

The rev limiter on a cossie is soft cutting.

I.E. it doesnt cut all the power. It intermittently alternates the fuel injectors off and on. While keep all ignition sparks active.

Besides, doing a doughnut doesnt mean your engine is reving very high. The load may be stable enough to hold an RPM whilst destroying your tyres...LOL

no its not hurting it, thats the point of a rev limiter, to limit the revs before you get the a revs thats dodgy.

most the reason you see it so much in cossies is they cant drive for shit

But obviously the higher the rev it is, the more wear & tear will happen!
