I used to work lasers in clubs back in the mid 90's, amazing some of the effects you could get, especially when bouncing them off mirror balls

Me too, One of my first electronics contracts was involved with developing high speed scanner interfaces for stuff like this.

I have 4 mirror balls in the club and 5 laser projectors..... It is fucking cool ! LOL

Why green... simple.... Its cheap (relatively) ...LOL

I have 5 lasers ranging from 150 milliwatts upto 8 watts .

Just the lasers alone cost around Ł15000 (some second hand)
This doesnt include the scanners, computers or cooling equipment.
The software is all my own work so thats saved around Ł2000.

To acheive multicolours you need an expensive multi diode array laser source and then it has to be big enough for the venue.
Just this component alone as a 4 watt power output would be around Ł12k+

 

Are you a v.j? or do you make software etc? looks good, i like it when it comes down and makes like a big laser roof/blanket.

Yes, I like the crown scanning stuff... Very tricky to get right within current health and safety laws !

People dont seem to like have free eye surgery

It is safe mate, its fast scanned and runs reduced power depending of the image size.
Also, if the scanner fails, the beam is shut off within 40 milliseconds !
Also, the air density is measured as an interlock as effects smoke helps dissipate the power and make it look good !

We have it independantly safety certified at a cost of Ł800+vat per year.

I only run it at a maximim of 6 watts peak to prolong tube and power supply life.

so can these lasers damage your eyes like the old laser pens can etc? I do like agood laser shows and thought maby the wave lenght of the light determinine if it could cause damage. If so how do they get away with shining the laser into the crowd?
