got an escort rs turbo running mfi system. its got chipped ecus. k&n. full stainless. front mount intercooler. kent cam kit. stage3 t3 turbo.

its boosting around 10 / 11psi and pulls like a train but when its getting up to the high revs it shudders, pops, bangs and give puffs of black reek out the exhaust. any ideas? ? ? ?

 

when mine did that it was overboosting, sounds like it just needs a good set up.

what chip? correct me if im wrong ne 1 but i thought a standard ecu will only let u boost to 12psi anything over and it cuts out like this??

double check ecu is chipped, back boost off to 9psi and see if it still does it, sounds like its overboosting.

 

i bought the ecu's off some one on here but il be buggered if i can remember who it was. they pm'd me saying the had ecu's that are chipped and able to run upto 19psi.. have i been violated by a fellow passion forder??

 

my old rst used to cut to idle in 3rd and 4th gear around 3k rpm would not pick up again unless foot of acelerator and back on, a big backfire and she was away again never sorted it tho? was boosting around 10 - 11 psi on guage.
