i have a lexmark X85, came with the deal, cartrages are expensive and mines starting to play up , but it might need a new cartrage, but if i got 2 new cartrages for it, for a extra £5 i could buy a whole new printer as the X85 was cheap to start with.
scanner is top, i can even photo copy on it without the need for the pc to be on. so i think mines great.
better quality printers out ther though

DONT get a Lexmark!
When I worked at Tiny, we had big problems with them, ie they didnt do everything that the box said.
Just so you know, Lexmark tech support is based in Ireland and so may cost a fair whack on calls and they dont support all 'All In 1's', even if they made them.

HP printers are top though on a good note!
Go to a computer forum place and see what people think there. Try www.micromart.co.uk.
You will be likely to get an opinion of people who buy and sell these then and so know which doesnt break down.

with the cheaper hp's check that you can use the more econimical ink as well. The number 26 black cartridge is about £16 for 10ml and the Number 56 black about £20 for 19ml i think. These are the cartridges the 'all in one's' use but the the cheap ones use the more expensive ink i think and may not allow you to use teh better 56 cartridge. Other than that think the HP's are good.
Funnily enough, I know a bit about these now
Before you buy one, check to see how much the inks are going to cost as sometimes its worth buying one thats a little bit more expensive, as the inks are cheaper. Also bear in mind that when you buy them new, the inks are only half filled (or half empty if you want to be pedantic
). They can all use compatibles without invalidating warranties....
HP seem one of the best in the market at the moment, but you'll need to shop around as prices differ so much

There an outlet similar to Macro, I had a quick look on their website and it doesnt really show that much ...I forgot to mentio that you'd need someone with a membership card as well
You could always try kelkoo as well

i used to be a canon area rep.
if your looking for a all-in-one wait for the new Canon range ones which are coming out until end of the month.
Canon are the cheapest on cartridges, however be warned that if you use the wrong ink in them the heads burn out.
there technology is very simple.
for example, the head is cooled using the ink. if the ink is tooo thick it will not flow through the head fast enough so it will not cool it fast enough hence the head will burn out.
if you dont want to wait, buy a HP 2510 or 2410, the only difference is the 2510 has wifi technology on board. however print quality is good and hp technology is reliable. you can ask me y and i will explain if you want. however, hp and lexmark do actually use very simular technology in there printers.
i hope this helps.

"Canon are the cheapest on cartridges"
I read an independent review about a year ago that said canon was most expensive ink. I kno some of the canon ink is only £5.99 but there's only a tiny amount of ink in them.
In terms of ink value the article said best - worst was: Epson, HP, Lexmark then canon
Getting very difficult to tell now tho, cos they don't always put the ink capacity on the box. I know reps always say their printers are cheapest on ink cos we get them coming into work
But seriously, are canons the best for value in your opinion?? I've got an old canon that i don't use cos thought it was expenisve ink after the article but i could be persuaded to get it back out again...

I got an HP 1210 last year and it is great; prints, scans, copies, etc... No probs with the hardware, small issue with the software, but thats probably more ot do with my shitty PC than an HP problem....
